What to Expect

Quick answers to common questions

Trinity is a "come-as-you-are" church. You are welcomed and loved here for who you are. Music is usually led by organ or piano, and we love to lift our voices in song. Each worship service centers around four key aspects: Gathering, Word, Meal, and Sending. All are welcome to partake in the sacrament of Holy Communion, and if you have further questions, you are always welcome to contact Pastor Stephen.

Children are always welcome at worship here at Trinity! We love the vibrancy and curiosity they bring to the space, and there will always be a Children's Message included. There is a small area in our entryway with books and toys available where families can still stay together and keep children busy if you are feeling your child is having a tough time focusing - but please know that we welcome them with patient love. Afterwards, your kids are welcome to join in the Fellowship Hall for snacks or play on the playground in the backyard.

On any given Sunday, people at Trinity wear what makes them feel most comfortable: anything from jeans and t-shirts to business casual clothing. God loves you no matter what, and so do we! Be comfortable. Be yourself.

Our parking lot is more than spacious enough for you to find a space. There are a handful of handicap parking spots close to one of the two main entrances, and you are welcome to enter through either door and make your way to the Sanctuary or Fellowship Hall.

The Trinity Food Pantry entrance is on the north end of the building, so it is best to park at that end, but there will be signs that direct you that way if you are coming to visit.

One of the best ways you can get to know someone is by seeing who they surround themselves with. Ministry is much the same, and we are proud to be a part of the following:

  • Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) - the largest Lutheran denomination in the country, with around 8,400 congregations deeply rooted church that is always being made new. Our roots are in Scripture and a collection of writings called the Book of Concord, as well as in the rich histories of our congregations. We strive to be faithful to the gospel and to work toward more justice and wholeness in the world. We are equipped to live and serve in the world with all its complexities, tensions and ambiguities.
  • Southeastern Iowa Synod (SEIA) - one of 65 geographically-differentiated synods within the ELCA, with around 132 congregations joined in God's work across 38 counties from the southeastern corner of Iowa to the Ames area. Each year, we gather for the Synod Assembly and a number of other partnered worship opportunities throughout the year. Within the synod, there are 11 conferences, and our conference has a rich history of partnering in ministry around the Quad Cities.
